We are proud to offer the best tours Alaska has to offer with Alaska shore excursions at wholesale prices. We only cancel cruises due to unsafe sea conditions, in which case we will notify you as soon as possible. We reserve the right to cancel or re-route our cruises based on weather or other conditions. Our guests stay on the boat for the entire cruise to maximize wildlife viewing opportunities.

Enjoy the breathtaking landscapes and wildlife sightings as you make your way to the Seward Cruise Port, where your unforgettable cruise experience awaits. I started this site to share my travel stories and inspiration to help you complete bucket list trips. Kenai Fjords National Park is both unique in Alaska – and very much like all of the other national parks in The Last Frontier. This is made doubly so because most of Kenai Fjords National Park is only accessible by boat.

The further out you go, the more likely you are to see wildlife and tidewater glaciers. Cruises from Seward take you to some of the most exciting ports in Alaska, including Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, and Icy Strait Point. You’ll also sail up close to the magnificent Hubbard Glacier, and through the serene waters of the Inside Passage, one of the best places to spot whales and dolphins. If you have an upcoming cruise departing from the Anchorage area, you’re likely sailing out of the Seward Cruise Ship Terminal. Instead, they leave from Seward or Whittier, both south of Anchorage.

Sightseeing Tours

Taxis are available outside the terminal and offer tour options in addition to local and long-distance (Anchorage) rates. And don’t forget to look up for mountain goats navigating the craggy cliffs and bald eagles perched in trees. When wildlife appears, your captain will slow down and may even stop and shut down the engines if possible, to give you time to take in the majesty…and take some photos too, of course. Charter a sailboat out of Seward and hit the waters of gorgeous Resurrection Bay!

Mount Marathon looms behind the downtown area of Seward and is famed for its grueling annual race to the summit and back every July 4. The mountain can be enjoyed at a more leisurely pace via three hiking trails to the top through the spruce forest and a lush, rock-tumbled glaciated valley. The views up here are magnificent, with jagged mountains and glaciers all around, and Resurrection Bay stretching away below.

Sign-up for any of the following email series to help plan your Alaska trip. I was born on the East Coast and currently live in the Midwest – but my heart will always be out West. I lived for 15 years in Alaska, as well as four years each in California and Washington. I share travel resources and stories based on my personal experience and knowledge. The Complete Seward City Guide gives you all the info you need to plan your time in Seward, in one convenient place.

Make sure to look for Humpback whales, Orca (killer whales), harbor seals, bald eagles, puffins, and various types of marine birds. A trip to Seward wouldn’t be complete without spending at least a few hours in Kenai Fjords National Park. This icy wonderland is what Alaska is all about and Seward offers several ways to take in the breathtaking scenery that is the calling card of this majestic natural wilderness. Half of the park is covered by ice, and glaciers dominate the landscape.

Many Alaska cruise tours include a train ride to the Seward cruise terminal. If you want to take a train yourself, you can do this with the Alaska Railroad. There are regularly scheduled passenger services that run year-round. Explore Kenai Fjords National Park, over 600,000 acres of wilderness chock-full of tidewater glaciers, Alaskan wildlife, and outdoor activities galore. From hiking backwoods trails to bicycling mountain pathways, kayaking icy waters and beach combing rocky shorelines, this park encompasses the best of Alaskan scenery and adventure. All refunds are processed through Alaska Shore Excursions, and will not be processed through any cruise line or local tour provider.

Transportation to Anchorage should be arranged prior to your arrival in Seward, and guests should plan their flight to allow for sufficient time for both the disembarking process and travel to the airport. On average, guests should not plan to be at the airport before the afternoon. There is a rental car kiosk located in the terminal, however, guests wishing to rent a vehicle should definitely reserve one ahead of time. Guests holding reservations with local transportation providers will be met by their drivers in the terminal.

A free local shuttle bus runs around town every 30 minutes, with five drop-off points. You could also take a taxi, but this is a small community, so it’s best to pre-book. On all cruises, your guide will be on the lookout for whales, sea otters, Dall's porpoise, seabirds, and other marine wildlife.

This 4-hour cruise is narrated by our experienced captains and naturalist crew members. Luckily, there are a number of cruise companies and a wide variety of cruise routes and itineraries to help you reach Kenai Fjords. Then I’ll provide a ranked list of the best Kenai Fjords National Park cruise options. If you’ve got your heart set on visiting Kenai Fjords to see whales, glaciers, and wildlife, this will help you choose the perfect cruise for your trip. A Seward cruise will show you the very best of Alaska’s wild beauty and cultural diversity. Situated at the end of Resurrection Bay, a long fjord on the Kenai Peninsula, the city is surrounded by towering, snow-capped mountains and dense forests of spruce and hemlock.
